Paris came to Las Vegas on a press tour some time ago. We provided a group of French journalists and travel writers a cultural tour of Downtown that had both a retro theme and a “what’s new” perspective.
We saw some legendary neon signs, took a discerning look at the mid-century modern architecture of Fremont Street, toured the antique shops on Main Street, checked out the murals of 7th Street Downtown, and stopped by Container Park. The day’s highlight was a tour of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts with its Art Deco architectural motifs inspired by Hoover Dam.
The tour was coordinated through the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, before the pandemic, a time when half of our own tour customers were international visitors. We’re hoping that sometime in the future that many of our international visitors will return to Las Vegas.
